Road running safety

Stay Safe Out There! Road Running in the Winter

Hey Runners! Daylight becomes a rare commodity as fall and winter descend on Northwest Indiana. After beating the heat with early-morning runs all summer, for the next few months runners will be hard-pressed to find a time to run with sunlight. Don’t hope that drivers will be looking out for you, make yourselves seen! The RRCA advises runners to wear safety vest with reflective material when running before dawn or after dusk. Make yourself as visible as possible by wearing reflective products and a combination of reflective material and LED lights. At the Extra Mile we carry everything you need to be seen: hi vis jackets and safety vests; LED light spurs from Nathan; and flashing and strobe light clip-ons.

Keep Your Eyes Open! Drivers Be Aware of Runners

Hey Drivers! During winter, you often go to work and come home in the dark. But cars and trucks aren’t the only ones on the road. Please, be mindful and considerate of the runners (and cyclists) sharing the road with you. Drive with your lights on when the sun isn’t up, and keep your eyes peeled for runners along the shoulder. They’re working hard to train through the winter, and appreciate every courtesy you give them. Slow down, wait to pass if cars are coming from the other direction, and give runners a little extra space as you pass each other.

Why few joggers wear reflective vest?

As more and more people are in favor of night runs and enjoy the breeze with moonlight, still few people are getting aware of the importance of wearing a reflective safety vest. It’s not that they don’t know the advantages of reflective clothing; actually most of them know it deep in heart that a safety vest can enhance their visibility and avoid possible accident, but why few actually wears it? One important factor is how reflective safety vest looks.

Although nowadays designers are making more options to make the safety vest looks less like construction worker accessories, still, there are few options that necessarily look right with office clothes or anything dressier than, say, jeans.

"I run along west lake every night, just as all other joggers do, but I find out that there was always a lack of designed and interesting reflective clothing," one night-run fun says. "There's nothing for design-conscious people to be able to wear what they would normally wear, and then just have something to protect them when they're on the road."

What’s the best place for reflective fabric on safety vest? Is it of the same function anywhere on the clothes? At least one study found that reflective clothing has to move to show up well on dark streets--something covering an ankle or knee will flash as legs pedal up and down, but a simple vest is less likely to show up from a long distance. In fact, wearing reflective safety vests might actually make cyclists or joggers take more risks, since they overestimate how well they'll be seen.

Then what to wait for? No more hesitate. Chinastars owns a professional design team that can easily provide you with good-looking and lightweight reflective safety vest with our qualified reflective fabric. For more information, plz visit our official website and contact us.

Surviving means to be seen earlier

In connection with the recent cyclists’ tragedies, policeman turned to appeal to drivers: remember to adjust the speed with regard to the weather. Especially in the fog, with which it is in this time period in the morning to be counted is the place to ride with the greatest caution. Cyclists can then be recommended to wear reflective safety vest and add reflectors on the bike to enhance their visibility, sometimes, surviving means to be seen earlier.

If they go, it is necessary to follow the basic rule: see - and be seen. It is moreover also relates pedestrians moving on the roads. Quite a few already understand it - and whether pedaling or on foot, to warn motorists themselves by putting on a reflective safety vest. In the event of a collision are just cyclists and pedestrians the most vulnerable road users. And it is easy to overlook not only in the mist, but even in the dark, at night and in the rain.

Selecting an appropriate safety clothing can helps to enhance visibility of pedestrians and cyclists. There is a quite huge difference between wearing bright safety clothing or be all in black - or you take clothing with a camouflage pattern. Supplements and patches of reflective materials or fluorescent materials can also be of great help and are available and not expensive.

You can see the reflection from a safe distance in the darkness and fluorescent yellow, green or amber fabric can increases visibility in daylight and at dusk, but in the dark, but they lose their function. It is worth noting that the reflective material is visible at night from distances greater than three times the white clothes - and even from a distance ten times greater than clothes in blue. Its use thus giving the driver time to react!
